11.25.07

I had to look at the calendar to see what the date is. I've lost track of time this weekend, which is probably a good thing. :) That means I'm enjoying myself.
1. I'm working on switching to Typepad. Just want to.
2. My Mom came over yesterday afternoon while it was cold and raining. We watched Jim Carrey's "Grinch" movie, ate popcorn and drank homemade hot chocolate. It was fun. :)
3. I got a fresh wreath at Costco yesterday for $14.99. It just about covers the entire front door, but it sure does smell good.
4. Only got about 4 presents on Black Friday but had lots of fun with my mom and sisters. Didn't encounter any crazy people, either. Thought it was funny to have to wait in line inside Toys R Us just to get IN to the electronics/video game area, lol.

5. I'm going to do a little more shopping tomorrow for Cyber Monday. I like free shipping AND being able to see if a size or item is in stock rather than going to all of the Austin locations.

6. I made this Chicken Tortilla Soup on Friday night and it was pretty good. It needs some roasted poblanos and garlic, I think. You could easily add whatever your family likes.
7. See my stairs? Noah wanted colored lights there this year. In each gathered swag area there are three glass brightly colored balls tied together and attached. It's fun. :)
8. I want some new cookware for Christmas. I've never had new cookware and am using the same Revere Ware I've had since college. (almost 20 years!) So...do you have good cookware and why do you like it? I like the porcelain ones, like Giada DeLaurentis and Mario Batali use, but I also like the non-stick. Would love your opinions!

Stay warm!

Hey Jen

I love Cook's Essentials from QVC! I've had it for a little over a year and will never buy another brand. My favorite thing...a lifetime warranty! If it gets beats up, give QVC a ring! LOVE IT!!! Their silicone bakeware is "'da bomb!" too!!! Happy Holidays!

Jen,

I too have been wanting new cookware and am currently using hand-me-downs from my dad and grandmother. I have a mix match of pans! I have being doing research on this subject for over a year. Asking all good cooks I know and also reading reviews on the net. I've read several reviews in Consumer Reports as well as blogs. Although I have not bought any yet, I think I've finally made up my mind to try Le Creuset enameled cast iron. The only negative comments I have been able to find from users is that it is very expensive and heavy. I will purchase one item and if I like it go for the set. If anyone has this brand please comment. I will be checking back :)

Your stairs are beautiful! I have that same Revere Ware you are talking about, as well as a few hand me downs from my Mom. When I'm lucky enough to get new ones I'm going to Williams Sonoma. I love that place. I hear good things about All Clad. I have several friends who have it and love it. I hope Santa brings you what you wish for.

Jen,
I love your stairs. They look so pretty and welcoming. Can I come over for a visit :-)
I don't have any advice on pans. I need some new ones too - my kids are tired of eating teflon - I wonder if that is dangerous??? I have looked at the Kitchen Aide ones and of course the Calphalon (but you can't put the Calphalon in the dishwasher). I'm going to check out the suggestions people have given.

Hello! Just wanted to let you know that we're finally back. I feel like I'm already behind with Christmas and all, that's for sure! I love Typepad and think you will too! Sounds like you had a wonderful Thanksgiving, I'm glad.

I got All Clad three years ago, and I can't believe how much I love it! I had Calphalon for 15 years prior to that, and the All Clad is far better. Much easier to clean, too. My two cents.

Love the blog!
