Good morning :)
About to head to Starbucks, then to church. Just felt like blogging for a few minutes...

For Christmas I received my two favorite perfumes - Ralph Lauren Romance and Estee Lauder Pleasures. They are both wonderful and floral. I'm not a fan of heavy, musky, spicy perfumes. My husband's stepmom also gave me perfume - Sarah Jessica Parker's Lovely. I hadn't ever used it before but wow, it is now quickly becoming one of my favorite perfumes ever. And it's a little spicy AND floral all at the same time. It's one of those perfumes that you keep wanting to sniff after you put it on. (and I've since learned that it was one of Oprah's Favorite Things in 2005, lol) What is your favorite perfume?

I'm hoping to do a little antiquing this afternoon and start reading Ali Edwards' Life Artist book. I just got it and can't wait to dig in!

Here's a recipe I want to try soon. We love smoothies in the morning and I saw Nigella Lawson make this on her show last week. Yum!

Go Get 'Em Smoothie
by Nigella Lawson

This is truly a weekday special: a breakfast that combines food and drink for people who don't feel they've even got time to sit down in the morning. If the person-in-a-hurry is miniature in stature, and not progressed to caffeine intake, then replace the Camp coffee with a tablespoonful of peanut butter. Extra protein and ultra delicious. I keep overripe bananas, peeled and cut into 4, in bags in the freezer which help give ice-creamy bulk to the smoothie and dispense with the need for ice.

1 peeled banana, cut into 4, from the freezer
2/3 cup milk
1 tablespoon honey
4 teaspoons malted chocolate drink powder (recommended: Ovaltine)
1 teaspoon strong coffee or 1/2 teaspoon instant espresso powder

Put all ingredients into a blender and whiz to mix.
Pour into a tall glass and drink before dashing out of the door.

Stay warm!

"Winter is the time for comfort, for good food and warmth, for the touch of a friendly hand and for a talk beside the fire: it is the time for home. " ~Edith Sitwell

Angel by Thierry Mugler is my all time favorite. Every time I wear it, my 6 year old daughter, Allison, says "Mommy, you smell like an angel." It makes me smile every time!

I develop opinions about people based on their perfume. Good opinions. There is something about the sense of smell that endears me. I'll have to try Sarah's scent, but my fave right now is Micheal Kors and I have the body wash, glittering (fun) body lotion, a small perfume and the spray. I layer it and probably disgust some people, but it delights me. I love to smell it on a jacket I wore or on the seat in the car. SMILE.

The only perfume I've worn since the week before my wedding is Estee Lauder's Pleasures. I got so many compliments in the receiving line that I just started wearing that one only. It's also the first perfume that students never complained about, but have complimented me on.

People can live a long time off a few compliments, can't we? ;-)

I may have to try the SJP perfume. Is it sold at most department stores?

1. I've been wearing Clinique's HAPPY for a zillion years now. Before that, it was Romance by Ralph Lauren

2. I made the tollhouse pie for my husband's birthday this past week. delish. Thanks for reminding me about that- it had been ages since I ate it!

3. that smoothie sounds great! we have so much ovaltine in our house and always have ripe bananas! The kids will love having this for breakfast! ps. target has the best price on Ovaltine. usually 1.50 cheaper than my supermarket!

4. lastly, great quote. makes me think of hot cocoa and chili- two things that I just made this weekend!

I am very picky about perfumes I will/can wear! For the last several years all I've worn is Banana Republic Classic and when they quit making that one I started wearing Alabaster.

Really enjoy your recipes! Thanks for sharing :) Made the sour cream banana pancakes this weekend. Yum-o!

my everyday scent is Moonlight Path body spray. but my 'hey there, honey' scent is Escentuals from Bare Essentials, bought at Ulta. It's more, um, romantic, in nature.

Be sure to show us what goodies you found shopping!

I'm pretty consistent with my perfumes - you want people to think of you when they smell your scent - at least that is what my mommy told me! Oh yes, mine is Style by Ralph Lauren. Not very well known but it is scentsational!
