Tagged and Family Dinners

Well, I was tagged by Heather D. White a few days ago, so I saved my answers for THIS post. :) Here we go! (and if you aren't a scrapbooker you might be bored for a few minutes, ha)

What scrapbooking lines/products do you dislike?
I don't know if there are any that I really hate, but I don't care much for anything really cartoony or the faded/watercolor-look. Just not my thang. :)

What is the hardest thing you've ever had to scrap?
That would be anything having to do with my Dad. If you look at my previous blog post, you'll see a layout and the journaling I did last year about him.

What technique do you use more than anything else?
Hmmm, that would probably be layering patterned paper. I love mixing and matching!

What is the smallest scrap of paper that you save?
Well, I save strips for borders and such. But I don't save blocks of cardstock or patterned paper that are smaller than a photo. I just find them useless and cluttering. I have all of my paper scraps in a CIS Paper Taker, sorted by color and I don't have use or room for the small stuff!

Have you ever had any scrap-related injuries?
None other than my hand hurting from using a huge circle or square punch too much. I'm always covered in pen, ink, and diamond glaze when I'm done scrapping, though. :)

Finish this sentence, "If I wasn't a scrapper/stamper I would spend my money on..." Easy..... beautiful cookware and kitchen gadgets, fun clothes, and home decorating items. LOVE doing things in my home and kitchen.

Give us your best storage or organizational idea. I like to keep things portable and GROUPED. Keep all of your like items together and store them as compactly as possible. This way you can have everything you need within arm's reach and you're more likely to use it. I'm not a fan of humongous scrap spaces just because #1 I won't use all of that and #2 if I can't see it, I won't remember to use it. THROW away original packaging! It just takes up space. :)

You just won a week-long scrapbooking cruise for 5. Who is going with you?
Oh good grief. I hate to name names because I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings. HOWEVER...this will never happen so please, no one take offense, lol. :) I'd definitely take my sister Allison. She's an AWESOME scrapbooker and deserves a vacation. The other 4? You know, I'd probably invite some online friends who I've never met in person but who are as passionate about scrapbooking and FUN as I am. There...generic enough? :)

When you recieved your first publication notification, who did you tell?
I think I told my sister Allison first since I knew she would be excited for me. (since she's a scrapbooker, too) Then I told my husband and mom and the rest of the family. I used to tell EVERYONE about my publications but now I just tell family and scrapbooking friends. Interesting note about my sister: She was published for the first time in Becky Higgins' sketch article. Right beside her layout was a layout by another first-timer...Ali Edwards. :) So my sister and Ali were published for the first time together. Cool, huh?

Ok, I'm not tagging anyone because they always hate it when I do, ha. (breathe a sigh of relief, Kelly!)

I've been working on rearranging my kitchen cabinets to be more user friendly. I'm also taking my huge binder of recipes that I've printed, dirtied, etc. and retyping and printing them on 4x6 cards. I'll put these in small binders by "type" and keep them on my cookbook shelf. I'm also on the lookout for old-fashioned serving bowls for family dinners. I want to do things how my Mom did....everyone sits down together at the table for dinner and all of the food is ON the table, family style. I usually leave everything in the kitchen, we make our plates, then sit down at the table. But I like the family style feel. So I figure if I find some fun old-fashioned bowls (antique stores, Goodwill, etc.) that will make it even more fun and old-fashioned. My best friend gave me this AWESOME retro-material waist apron, too, so that will be fun to use.

I've been using LOTS of Gladware lately, too. I'll make extra dinner portions, put the leftovers into a Gladware container, label it with freezer tape and put it in the big freezer. When my husband goes to work each morning he chooses a container to take for lunch. It sure does save money and he loves having my homemade cookin' at work. :) (now if I could just get that Gladware BACK....)

I didn't get the pink/shabby bathroom done yet. You know how it goes....

I think I'll make a new recipe tonight: Peanut Crusted Pork with Bourbon Mushroom Cream. I love recipes that sound really fancy but they aren't...haha. Some substitutions I'll make because of my picky son and to cut some of the fat: I'll use breadcrumbs with a little chopped nut for the breading, and some whole milk instead of all heavy cream. This is from the Bed and Breakfast recipe website that I just love!

***EDIT: I thought you'd like to know that dh had to stay late at work, so Noah and I had fish sticks and grapes for dinner. LOL!*** (how's THAT for normal?) And no, we didn't use the placemats or serving bowls!

God has been good to me today. I am blessed! :)

IT's okay Jenn...you don't have to say who you would take on the cruise. We all know that I would be one of them..right? LOL! Love your answers...ooh and the Pork sounds awesome. LMK how it turns out.

Jenny,
You are the best! Fish sticks and grapes are good. Sounds like Noah chose that. I'm proud to be your mom. I love you.
