Sounds, Sights, and Smells of Christmas

(click on the photo to see the text details)

Crazy, busy week around here! So sorry for the lack of blog posts. Today we painted my Mom's bedroom and soon I'll be baking Christmas treats for Noah's teachers. I just wish it was still cold. We had a couple of "ice days" where the temperature stayed in the 20's, and now it's in the 60's and sunny. Not exactly Christmasy, but I'll pretend. :)

The picture you see above is the gift I am giving to Noah's teachers, aides, and administrators. I downloaded a bunch of our favorite Christmas songs from Itunes and burned Christmas CDs for everyone. I had Noah draw a Christmas tree, which I scanned, reduced, and pasted onto the CD label template. Then I listed all of the songs on the CD, printed the labels, and stuck them on. OH...and the first "sound" on each CD is a personalized Christmas greeting from Noah himself: "Merry Christmas, Mrs. Miller!....Merry Christmas, Coach!" He sounds so sweet :) So this will be our gift to his teachers along with a Christmas container of goodies. THAT is why I need to get them done this weekend so they can enjoy the Christmas CD for a while. :)

After Noah went to bed last night, David and I watched Fever Pitch, a movie I've wanted to see for a while. (I think Jimmy Fallon is so cute and funny) It was a cute movie, but quite the chick-flick. David tried not to laugh a few times since he's really good at making fun of the "chick moments." We also had hot chocolate and chocolate chip cookies while we watched the movie in front of the Christmas tree. See? I'm sticking to my "simplify" list!

David is so excited. He's going to a book signing tomorrow and gets to meet John McCain! I was unable to go to the Emeril book signing. I was SO disappointed. :( We have some friends who are having disastrous marital problems right now, so that night we needed to open our home to the wife and three small children. I couldn't leave the house with them coming over, so I made the decision to not go. I think I received the bigger blessing serving them in God's name, though, than meeting Emeril.

Instead of sharing a recipe today, I'll share a recipe SITE! A long time ago on AOL I found a cooking/recipe message board and this site was used frequently for recipes. Steph's Country Kitchen has great, easy recipes plus holiday and menu planning ideas. :)

Gotta go bake and also get some things ready to take to church tomorrow. Have a wonderful Saturday with your family and friends! Oh, and MERRY CHRISTMAS...that greeting will NEVER EVER be replaced with "Happy Holidays" on my tongue.
