1.6.09

Good afternoon! We are busy getting ready for school to start again. Noah put on his school shoes on Sunday to wear to church and said they hurt. So, we are off to buy new shoes (again) for school. Growing boy!

Doing daily organizing and getting things back in order. Yesterday I worked on my craft room, getting rid of things I don't use, simplifying my shelves, getting inspired again by things I love to see in there. This first photo is just an old silver fabric jewelry box filled with decorative berry stems, dresden and paper embellishments, velvet leaves, and some decorative stick pins. I took several photos of things on my shelves today since I didn't have a whole lot to blog. (more photos below)

Other random things...

1. Still doing great with the eating healthy and ok with getting myself moving. I have a whole week's worth of healthy recipes to try and I'll post reviews and recipes here as we go.

2. Christmas List. Yes, crazy, I know. But I'm promising myself to do things differently this year. I want to spread out the spending and gift purchases/creating. I'm going to make a master list of names for 2009 Christmas gifts. Then I'll divide those names into 10 months, beginning with February. (Feb-Nov) Each month we'll either purchase or I'll start making a gift for the people on that month's list. Wrap, put in gift closet with a post-it note, and be done. I really, really want to do it this way this year. We'll see..

3. I have thoughts of doing my own E-zine full of little projects. What that means is I would create 10-15 seasonal projects and create product lists, photos, and detailed instructions for each. Anyone who purchases my E-zine would receive each project detail via email so you can create the projects yourself at home with your own supplies. Not sure on details....but would definitely have a vintage/antique feel to them. Seasonal home decor? Definitely some glitter, vintage postcards, buttons, and lace involved. Again....we'll see.... :)

Here are the rest of the photos I took today. Click on any photo to see it larger.

Stacked seam binding and satin ribbon

Corkboard on my wall with inspirational ads and photos.
This will get filled up as the year goes along.

Basket of vintage postcards, photos, cabinet cards, and old papers.
Pincushion is from Etsy. Love note is from Noah. :)

Biscuit jar full of lace. I just buy the laces by the yard or collect them while junking.

Antique printer's tray with miscellaneous buttons and embellishments,
organized by color.

Have a blessed day!

LOVE this quote....something I need to remember on a daily basis:
"Don't say you don't have enough time. You have exactly the same number of hours per day that were given to Helen Keller, Pasteur, Michaelangelo, Mother Teresa, Leonardo da Vinci, Thomas Jefferson, and Albert Einstein." ~Life's Little Instruction Book, compiled by H. Jackson Brown, Jr.

Great Inspiration, Jennifer. I like the gift idea. And the Ezine sounds wonderful. I started using a lot of vintage stuff when I first started scrapping, and am coming full circle again, pulling out the old watch parts, Vintage clipart cd's, laces etc. that I collected in the beginning. I am sure glad I didn't get rid of it. LOL. I love to read your blog and see how you store things. Thank YOU very much.

I've made a list for 2009 Christmas, too, and have already marked off three names. Yippee. I plan to purchase or make a gift each month.

I love your blog and great idea on the Christmas list and shopping each month. This was my plan to have a much nicer relaxed holiday for next year. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

great photos and projects!!
about the quote, I first thought it was true, then, not really realistic.. where are the children, the diapers, the chores, the housekeeping, the grocery shopping?... they had more time to pursue their passion than most of the women I know... it doesn't stop me to work hard and play hard but I feel that those quotes are really depressing! I wish I could ignore everyone to scrapbook, stamp, meet deadlines for books and magazines when I want, night day, who cares?.. who needs sleep anyway?

Hi, Anotherday :)

Isn't it how funny how quotes can be interpreted differently by people? I applied it to myself to mean that I have the exact amount of hours in my day as they do to get done what I need to get done - the things around my house, helping out at school, cooking dinner, a little free time, etc. My Priorities. I didn't think at all that it was saying to drop everything and scrapbook or craft all day or to neglect my daily schedule to pursue my own selfish interests.

I'm glad you commented, though. It's good to see things from a different interpretation. :)

I shop ahead for Christmas too but I love the idea of the Feb-Nov plan.
One thing I do is take a digital picture of my purchases before I wrap them. Sometimes, even a post it note is not enough to help me remember what I've bought. I don't print the pictures, just keep them in a file on the computer.
