Good morning!

My husband and son just left for a cub scout outing day, so I'm at home in my pajamas, drinking coffee. I do have things to do today - Hobby Lobby, bank, and groceries. But it's nice to sit here and watch The View on TIVO first. :)

We (thankfully!) got a call yesterday afternoon from an online store for verification of a shipping address for an online purchase. We didn't buy anything there, so I immediately went to check our debit card account. Lovely. Someone had used our card number (and had my name and address) to quickly purchase $1700 worth of stuff, $700 of which had been cancelled because the shipping didn't match the billing address. So I have to go to the bank this morning to dispute charges and get a new card. Lesson learned, which I already knew...but did infrequently enough that I thought it would be ok. PAYPAL ONLY. No using debit cards online. It had to be online because they had my name and address. We'll get the money back. It will just take a few days.

So David came home last night with these roses. Aren't they beautiful? He knew I had a tough afternoon on the phone with the bank and all of the online places where the charges were made. He's such a blessing to me.

Here's a little peek at a guest designer project that I did for February. You'll get to see the whole thing next week. I just love it and you will, too! Very girly. :)

Thanks for the reminder that we should NEVER use our cards for on-line purchasing. Enjoy your weekend!

ugh, that happened to me once, but was with a card i only used for cm use when i was a consultant. so the first charge of $50something went through (later fixed and reimbursed), but the second one of MUCHO more bounced because i kept so little in the account! turns out a woman in the phillipines has the same name as me, and was charging in australia and at a museum store in la! weird. glad it's taken care of, and enjoy your day!

Well that sucks! I'm always so concerned about that.

But those are some gorgeous roses I must say! What a great hubby!

Jen, I'm so sorry about your experience, but thanks so much for sharing it. I had started using our debit card more often for online purchases since we're trying to avoid debt, and the whole liability thing hadn't even crossed my mind. (Not to mention the pain of fighting to get money back into your account rather than just disputing charges.) Lesson learned vicariously for me.

And totally off-topic... I have a favorite blog that always makes me think of you, so I want to share it. If you haven't already come across it, I think you'll find her to be a kindred spirit. ;)

Beautiful roses to wipe thoughts of a bad day out of your mind, lucky girl.

That sneak peek is tempting, great color combination.

So sorry about your card. That happened to me as well. My bank said it could have been a restaurant. The card readers they use are not as secure for some reason.

ARGH on the card! We've had that happen twice with credit cards, so we keep the debit card totally off anything online. First card it was a Visa with $5000+ in charges in France! Apparently, we needed to eat at expensive restaurants and then had to go to the hospital (twice) because of it! That company froze our credit account and it took about a month to get it all straightened out! ARGH Second time was an Amex right before Christmas this year. Amex called us as there were a bunch of online charges. . .. they overnighted us a new card and we haven't had any dealings with Amex since (so much easier on our end to deal with!).
