11.14.07

Back to reality this week. I'm still trying to catch up on normal things - laundry, grocery shopping, sleep - but I'm still on a creative high since Silver Bella. I've been writing things down, sketching, making lists, and it's OH so fun. I have lots of class ideas for 2008, most of which I'll sell in my Etsy shop as "take home" kits, too. I'll work on those during the holidays.

Well, for years now David and I have loved Nickel Creek. They are splitting up at the end of 2007 to pursue individual music careers....which is completely understandable. But MAN, we will miss their music! They have been together since they were little and were helped early in their career by Alison Krauss. When we went to NYC for Thanksgiving in 2002 we made a stop in New Jersey and went to their concert on the Stanford campus. So cool. We've seen them several times since and now this Saturday night, we'll see them for the last time. Their tour is called "Farewell For Now."

Sorry.....but when you see musicians like this....Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears look pretty lame. (and the two guys have lots of girl fans) :D I love the place where we are seeing them - Stubb's BBQ. Outdoor stage in the backyard with the smell of BBQ and beer drifting around. Good eatin' and good music...can't beat that!

Gotta show a few Nickel Creek videos now.

Noah just said he wants to learn how to play the guitar, so we're looking into lessons for him. And you can count on me making sure he hears music like THIS a lot. Pure talent.
"Smoothie Song"(instrumental)

Here's one of my favorite songs they sing...a few years old, but still good stuff.
"This Side"

And one of their newer songs...very strange video about
not conforming.
"When In Rome"

And if you're wanting even MORE Nickel Creek, here's a link to a complete concert video at the Kennedy Center from 2003. Completely rocks.
Have a beautiful day!

I have left my sickbed to pay you a visit - glad I did!!!! You are so lucky to see their farewell for Now tour. My favorite song will always be When you Come Back Down. *sigh* Justin and Brittany have nothing on these "kids!"

We LOVE Nickel Creek! Now my husband is trying to figure out if we can squeeze the concert into our soccer tournament-filled weekend. Have a great time!

I always make a music CD to give as favors for my kids' birthday parties...Janie's first birthday CD has "out of the woods" from their first CD. I just love the line, "i'd roller-coaster for you"....

I love Nickle Creek! You are a good mom to make sure your kids are exposed to something that good. Lucky you to see them in person!

Love them! I've never been able to see them "live", though. Have so much fun!
