My own personal Calvin...

No, not Calvin Klein. Calvin of Calvin and Hobbes fame. Noah LOVES the Calvin and Hobbes books. He's reading at a 2nd grade + level, so he has so much fun sitting on the couch reading C&H cartoon books. I think he's picking up some of Calvin's habits as well.

The picture to the left is Noah....under one of MY good pillowcases. See, he decided he needed a ghost costume. And since my pillowcases are King sized, well, they'd work best. He was way too quiet this afternoon so I said, "Noah? What are you doing?" "Nooooooothiiiiiiiing!!" Yeah, that means he's doing something he shouldn't be doing. So David went to check on him, and found him with my pillowcase and a pair of scissors. He's just lucky it wasn't one of my favorite Ralph Lauren pillowcases!! I really did laugh later and of course, took a picture. :) And he is going without any sweets at all for a week. No popsicles, ice cream, cookies, anything. Ouch!

I made some homemade peach ice cream after church today. YUM! Texas peaches are coming into season, so we got some yesterday at Central Market. The recipe I used is below. You could use 2 cups of any fruit you like to change up the recipe! (If you use strawberries, put in a drop of red food coloring to make the ice cream pink) :)

Homemade Fresh Peach Ice Cream
2 cups whipping cream
1 cup half-and-half
1 cup sugar
2 tsp. vanilla extract (REAL vanilla, not substitute)
2 cups chopped fresh peaches

Chop peaches and place in bottom of ice cream freezer container. Add all remaining ingredients on top of peaches and stir until sugar is dissolved. Freeze according to your manufacturer's ice cream freezer instructions. Place container in freezer to harden for a while.

Have a blessed Sunday!
Jennifer

Oh my goodness. I keep saying that over and over. The pillowcase thing would have made me very mad. I can't believe he did that!!! Too funny.

The peach ice cream sounds delish. I've been wanting to make homemade ice cream. I think I'll try this soon. Thanks!

I'm such a huge Calvin & Hobbes fan... have all the books. OMGosh, the ghost thing is just too funny! You definitely have your own little Calvin there.

Wait -- you took away his sweets, and then you made ice cream?! LOL!! I always picture Noah as such a little angel (just like his mom). So it is especially hilarious when I see you capturing him doing all those crazy things kids do! ;)

Ohhhh my....
You very own Calvin and Hobbes!

I hear ya on your lamenting if its August already. :)

Well. I'm off to buy fruit of some sort to make ice cream. I can't decide between strawberries or peaches. Might just be both. Maybe even mixed together. That sounds yummy!

Thanks for the recipe.

He is cherub-like, for sure. But he's not an angel. He needs... TRAINING. What is really scary is not that he wants to be like Calvin but that he wants to be like ME.

The ice cream tastes best when it's slightly melted... the peach flavor comes out a lot more then. Also using high-quality vanilla makes a heeeyuge difference.
