A Spiritual Paycheck

Interesting, huh? I think we stay-at-home Moms have the only job with so many sub-titles. :) I found this graphic on a website while looking for some information about what the salary really would be for a stay-at-home Mom (SAHM). I love my job and know that I'm doing what God called me to do. I do *sometimes* wish we had evaluations and raises, though. :) That's ok. My pay is in the form of knowing I am in God's will, and kisses, smiles on faces, and verbal praise from David and Noah. Money can't buy that.

I grocery shopped last night (is that on the list?) and got home close to 10:00 p.m. I wore my Ipod shuffle while I shopped and it was SO HARD not to sing along. I was getting some strange looks anyway just for wearing my Ipod while I shopped. (what's up with that?) So I knew if I belted out a tune I'd probably be thrown out of the store. One of the things I did before I left to shop was put a few episodes of Scrapcast on my Ipod. If you go to Itunes and click on Podcasts, do a search for "scrapcast." This is a FREE webcast, like a radio talk show, all about scrapbooking! I just subscribe to it and listen to them when I have a long stretch of listening time. It's pretty cool to listen to scrapbooking chatter while grocery shopping :)

Speaking of scrapbooking, wanna know what the cutest thing in scrapbooking is right now? (in my opinion, anyway) It's Elsie Flannigan. She's a new Garden Girl at 2Peas and I just ADORE her style! She is fresh and funky and I admire her originality so much. She is also Creating Keepsakes magazine's Fresh Face for October. I know great things are in store for her in the world of scrapbooking. If you haven't heard of her before now, I have no doubt that you'll be seeing her everywhere soon! :)

Have you entered the contest to become the next MUSE for Wendi Speciale Designs? You can't win if you don't enter...so get that entry sent in! :)

Thank you for all of your comments and emails about the recipes that I share! Oh, and most of them are not ones that I created myself. If I know the source I post that. Otherwise it's just a "cooking message board" recipe that I found years ago and don't know the original source. If there is ever a recipe that I created it will have my name on it :)

Today's recipe is one that I made for Christmas dinner a few years ago. It smells heavenly when it's cooking and is so delicious. It reminds me of the holidays, but it's great to serve anytime of year. Yes, I long for Fall and Winter to arrive so I'm getting in the mood by posting this recipe! :)

Orange-Herbed Pork Roast

2 1/2 to 3 lb pork roast
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp ginger
1/2 tsp dried thyme, crushed
1/2 tsp pepper
1 T cooking oil

Trim fat from roast. Combine spices and rub all over meat. Brown on all sides in a large skillet in hot oil. (This smells wonderful!) Drain. Place roast in crockpot.

Combine the next ingredients and pour over roast.
1 C chicken broth
2 T sugar
2 T lemon juice
2 tsp soy sauce
1/2 tsp finely shredded orange peel

Cover; cook on low for 8-10 hours or on high for 4-5 hours. Transfer roast to serving platter, keep warm. For sauce, pour juices from crockpot into measuring cup. Skim fat off of the top. Add water to make 2 C if necessary. Transfer to saucepan.

Combine:
3 T cornstarch
1/2 C orange juice

Mix cornstarch and juice, stir into juices in saucepan. Cook and stir till bubbly and thickened. Pass sauce with meat.

Have a wonderful weekend with the family God has given to you! :)

Hey Jen...there's nothing wrong with singing out loud!! I'm always singing along (or humming) to whatever music is being played over the loudspeakers! It's a reflex...drives my youngest sister bonkers when we are shopping together! But it's my dancing in the aisles that really sends her over the edge!! ROFLOL!!!
